My Structured AI Shows an Error Message

Edited

Sometimes, the Structured AI displays an error message. Usually, this can be fixed easily. Following, you can learn more about the different error messages and how to address them.

Device Up to Date?

Please ensure whether your Structured app and iOS on all of your devices are up to date, as this often causes a lot of trouble. You could also try to restart your device or reinstall Structured.

Incorrect Format

If your Structured AI displays: "There was an unknown error. Please contact customer support. (The data couldn’t be read because it isn’t in the correct format.)", please check whether your input is sufficient and your spelling is correct. You can learn more about how to instruct the Structured AI most efficiently here.

Request Timed Out

If your Structured AI displays: "There was an unknown error. Please contact customer support. (The request timed out.)", there was probably an issue with your connection.

Try the following steps to address this issue:

  • Tap on Regenerate in your instructions field to check if it works now.

  • Check, whether your device has a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular data).

  • If this does not work, check out the SSL Error troubleshooting below.

SSL Error

If your Structured AI displays: "There was an unknown error. Please contact customer support. (An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made)", it is usually due to a failed connection between your network and the OpenAI server. An SSL error implies that no secure connection can be made between Structured and the Open AI servers.

Try the following steps to address this issue:

  • Check whether you are connected to a VPN, e.g., when working remotely and being connected to your company's server. If so, please deactivate it,

  • Check whether you are connected to a public Wi-Fi. If so, please try an alternative network connection (Wi-Fi or mobile / cellular data).

  • If you neither use a VPN nor are connected to a public Wi-Fi, please also try to connect your device to an alternative network (Wi-Fi or mobile / cellular data).

If the network connection still fails to work, your network is probably currently incompatible with OpenAI.
